PREFACE:-
I
am now somehow upset. I am not a thought reader. Naturally reason bounding clarification
may not be attuned in appropriate perspective. There is, it is not unnatural or
unusual, a dearth of perspicacity. But that does not mean I am short-sighted
out of myopia. As a student I feel scared with the ongoing and relevance of the
modern education system. Education does have a holy objectivity. It purifies
our soul and mind. Mere better scoring in the examinations can never be the
hallmark of true education. It fortifies our missionary vision towards life. If
we want to build up our life in perfect order the value true education acts as
a guiding stick. Learning through proper education never falls flat in every
inch of walk of life. So, to be a seeker of true education what imparts
knowledge and wisdom is the part and parcel of our life to be glorified in the
long run. The concluding effect of today’s education system haunts me much
because it is turning us a human robot with a strong apprehension to eliminate
good senses from our life. Education system now in vogue is fueling rat race competition.
It is now mostly earning oriented. It is the teaching of the world of
consumerism. This world explains everything in terms of money. It grossly
contradicts the ethical senses of humanity. A man can never survive sending
humane senses in exile. It is absolutely suicidal. The education system in
existence prompts us to be selfish with a banishment of commonness,
togetherness and fellow feelings. Self-centeredness alienates us from common
touch. While thinking all such ifs and buts in perplexity my eyes become sleepy
and I have fallen asleep in mental unrest. Suddenly as it seems, Derozio comes
in my dream to communicate something in my restlessness as I am unanswerable to
myself on the issue.
[I
am now in mesmerizing state of mind. I find a gentleman in dream with Briton
attire. He is smiling.]
·
Diyasha:
Who are you please in my dream?
·
Derozio:
Can’t you recognize me?
·
Diyasha:
Faintly guessing. Perhaps you are -----
·
Derozio: Yes,
I am Henry Louis Vivian Derozio. No need as
such to come in your dream so sharp. But your tremendous restlessness prompts me do so.
·
Diyasha: There you are. Do you think that my
restlessness is incoherent and foundationless? Is there no argument or
reasoning behind it?
·
Derozio:
You are looking very much vexed and annoyed. Be cool and analytical. Try to
understand everything realistically.
·
Diyasha: I am not getting my answer and you are trying
to appease me with your soft voice. Is it not bypassing the problem?
·
Derozio: No, No. That’s misrepresenting. Once you
become annoyed and irritated your logical and analytical senses will be
punctuated at every step. Biased thinking will grip your mind. That’s not good
at all.
·
Diyasha: Well, you are accepted. You taught the then
young generation not to compromise and to fight against social ills. Not
accommodate anything what contradicts our senses. Never be unreasoning and be
always protestant against injustice. That’s why you set up “YOUNG BENGAL” – an
organization of the youth with enliven logic and reasoning. How can you defend
this?
·
Derozio: Oh! An uprising and upbeat youth. I do
appreciate your feeling. Brief me your problem in specific. I am ready to have
a logical explanation for you.
·
Diyasha: You were one of the masterminds to spread true
value education in Bengal with an elimination of superstitions. You were one of
the helmsmen to make everyone understand the value of true education and how it
helps a society to come up in the right track.
·
Derozio: That is fact. There stands every point of
reconciliation with your placement as it is absolutely logical.
·
Diyasha: Now I am becoming more specific. How do you
value modern education system? Is it not far away from the objectives of true
education? Where are the students of the day leading to compromising with
present system of education? Now opine.
·
Derozio: Better to be very frank, modern education
system is a complete mess. Sometimes I also get completely confused. My
meaningful senses fail to clarify this system in particular as it generates
only human robot. They are all in the fray of rat race competition in life and
it is the strange preaching of the philosophy of the world of consumerism.
·
Diyasha: I am not so aware of all the things in
details. My question is very simple. What is the need of that education what
decomposes moral values and ethical senses? Is it not an outright conspiracy
against us? After all we are all human being. We must qualify ourselves with
all human values. Barring it there will no discrimination between a man and a
beast.
·
Derozio: All your questions are very straight forward.
But the answers are not so easy. You are to go deep into the problem to find
out the answer. If you want to destruct a nation from the root you are to
attack its education and culture. A nation becomes crippled if its education
system and main stream of culture are spoiled as a way of plotted conspiracy.
That is happening here very much.
·
Diyasha: I am getting a glimpse. Please be more
specific with pin point accuracy of logic and reasoning.
·
Derozio: Look Diyasha, it can never be briefed in a nut
shell form. Arguments and counter arguments will come up spontaneously during
discussion. Students are the spine of a nation. They are always protestant and
uncompromising with social ills. Proper education system encourages it by
direct sponsorship. In case the education system being misdirected students
will be devoid of their naturalism.
·
Diyasha: Then where will we land in the bargain? What
will be our future? How long will we run in complete uncertainty? How can we
come out from the cobweb conspiracy? Please suggest some principles or formulas
to fight out the deliberate conspiracy. As an educationist; it is the first and
foremost duty of yours. You can never allow the students’ community as a body
to go into the liter bin. Am I not right?
·
Derozio: If you want to save your nation the total
education system needs a thorough revision and amendment in consonance to the
well being of the society. That very education system is needed what teaches
students to call spade a spade, to lodge vehement protest against ills and
vices what degenerate the nation as a whole, to keep the spine of the students
community vertically erect, to go for steady campaigning against erosion of
moral values, to stand by the poor and oppressed class and so on as the
situation demands. Apart from academic learning it requires moral learning too
through education. No education system can subscribe anything good except moral
values are upheld. I think, it is understood.
·
Diyasha: Now the question is what forces are there
behind the curtain to propagate this decomposing system of education. I want
further clarification.
·
Derozio: Outright clarifications are obviously there.
But I want you to learn that from the experiences of life because experience is
the best teacher. When the main stream of life gets cordoned unethically a
parallel system is generated by default. It is the best way to come out of the
crisis. The present social set up will not allow doing that at ease. But never
get unnerved. Fight, fight and fight. If you want to protect students’
community from terrifying erosion and to save your nation from total
degeneration there seems no option as such but to modify present unfortunate
education system because it is the basic trouble shooting zone.
·
Diyasha:
Thanks a lot Mr. Derozio for giving your valued opinion. I am not free from the
canopy of confusing cloud. Thank you again for sparing so much time for me. I
am grateful to a true preceptor of education. You tried your best to blend
education with morality. The need of that is still alive with all relevance.
·
Derozio:
Good bye Diyasha. I am going back my own home somewhere else in the heart of
the students’ community.
