“GANESH”
is still vivid in our memory. Yes I am talking of self-forgetful “GANESH”. He
was completely indifferent by his queer character. He was always less concerned
with the happenings around him. He was beyond doubt nomadic and was always
governed by his own whims. Ups and downs in a life stand imposter to him. We
used to try to make him understand in his movements and characteristics. But he
was ever unreachable to us. He was always less spoken and hardly had any
intention to interact with anyone in particular on any specific issue.
Sometimes we were under the impression that life came to him with all
insignificance. He had no exposure of feelings, emotion and sentiment as such.
“GANESH” was never understandable to us, yet he used to draw our attention with
inquisitiveness. Sometimes I personally tried to set up a psychological
communication with one way talking. But his reluctance did not allow me to
proceed further. Yet we used to spin round his peculiar character for his
occasional shout aloud: - “This earth will ruin. Save it if you can.” After
that he had a straight walking along the road. Where did he go, none had any
knowledge of his destination because “GANESH” had never compromised with
specific destination. He had always an intimacy with roads going to different
direction.
“GANESH”
was not all along of this category. Uneasiness in his mental set up was never
questioned when he was tender in age. Once he had a very happy family with his
parents and elder sister. After being married his sister was mentally and
physically abused for the dowry not being paid as demanded from the in-law’s
house and resultantly she had the best option to commit suicide. It was the
cause of his mental set up being completely shattered. He used to weep like a
child after the bereavement of his sister. He failed to accommodate the
brutality of human being. Gradually he became restless and it led him to mental
instability. He could never be called mentally retarded, but he was definitely
eccentric and this typical eccentricity is the cause of his total indifference.
Step by step known “GANESH” became unknown to us with counterfeit identity.
Morning
came as usually that day. A thick crowd was found before the tea stall. They
looked very tensed and exited. They were discussing something in great anxiety.
I could not resist my temptation to go ahead close to the tea stall and to my
utter surprise I heard that “GANESH” had been brutally murdered last night with
multi wounds of stabbing. His body was found lying in a pool of blood at a
desolate place near the grave yard at a distance apart from our locality. I was
struck with dumb. What is the cause behind the murder? Who murdered him?
Indifferent and self-forgetful “GANESH” had been murdered! He had never been an
element of showing protest on any issue. Literary speaking, he was a casual
bystander. After the premature expiry of his sister he had no charm in life and
spirit of life was a bygone conclusion to him. Yet he had to be murdered in
total strangeness.
Cases
of murder are not an unusual phenomenon now. It is becoming the usual practice
of the day. It is now the age of criminals and miscreants. Society has become
turned the happy kingdom of them. They are on the prowl in the roads
nonchalantly with all their antisocial activities keeping on. Peace monger
people are afraid of them because they can move up to ultimate exposition of
brutality in case their interest is least challenged. They want to have an
encroachment of all the roads. Common people are becoming afraid of them
because they maintain an evil and vicious nexus with corrupt political leaders
and administration too. So they are in don’t care mood. Are local goons
responsible for this murder or anything unknown? Suspicious discussions were
going on because everyone was concerned with his death.
The
mystery of the murder of “GANESH” is still unexposed. The resonance of death
existed for some time. After that it is a bygone conclusion. This is natural. A
running life does not allow any episode to have a hangover for an indefinite
period. Moreover, “GANESH” was not a celebrity one. Naturally let his death
remain aside in absolute insignificance. To commemorate his memory does never
fetch any accountability. Deaths like of “GANESH” hardly leave any mark in our
mind. People like “GANESH” live with an identity of unknown in the midst of
known circle. They are always discarded by the society as a man of no worth.
Gossips
may run on unnaturalness of the murder of “GANESH”. They are basically cooked
up stories with no reality at all. I am averse to be a member of this gossip
club. I am always earnest to learn the truth behind any cause because I am
obliged to that truth, always the photocopy of the fact with no tampering. What
I personally feel that “GANESH” tried to walk on that road which is not for
general. That road represents humanity and human understanding. In the world of
consumerism those who want to remain alive holding morality and human
understanding are called literate fool because this world teaches to protect
own interest at the cost of other’s interest. Sometimes they are also called
insane or mentally challenged. The death of “GANESH” is metaphoric. People like
“GANESH” with latent burning of fire inside can never die with an attack of
immoral. Perhaps they recoil themselves temporarily to gain more strength for
an outright sudden counter attack. The metaphorical death of “GANESH” is sure
to strike our conscience for a new beginning of fight for a come back into the
main stream of life.
