Life
signifies walking along an untravelled path. A path remains ever unknown if one
does not come down on the road under the attraction of road. The road is zigzag
with so many unknown turns. never being encountered earlier. Yet people come
down on road because real enjoyment is felt on every footstep on the road.
A road does not allow us to turn our life
completely dried up by any sense. Experiences on the road are priceless
possessions. Roads make us known so many unknowns. Roads make us known friends
and foes. Roads develop our sense of amity and relationship. If we don’t come
down on the road we fail to understand the grandeur of the road in ultimate
majesty.
Roads
make us know the meaning of life in different perspective. Roads demolish our
introvert character. A road teaches us how to build up union with others
shaking off all prejudices. A road is the direct witness of many events,
desirable or non-desirable. If we want to have the real taste of life the role
of roads is in no way to be disputed and it holds strong relevancy. A road does
not belong to anyone in particular. If anyone asks a road whom it belongs to,
he will receive a steady reply that I have given the proprietorship to those
who walk on me.
In
a missionary rally along the Central Avenue, RADDUR (the sun) and AVIPSA (wish)
were walking in slogans and shouting. It was the rally against war. Both of them
were walking side by side. The rally was the icon of the standing protest
against brutal war and in favour of restoration of permanent peace around the
globe. On that day Raddur and Avipsa were unknown to each other, but both of
them were walking on with the same commitment to life. In the aftermath chapter
of life mingled with many intimate moments out of common understanding they
came forward further close to each other and became the life partner where
feelings, sentiments and emotions acted as favourables catalysts.
There
exists want and insufficiency in their life. Yet they have accommodated it
smilingly. In the midst of sufferings and miseries of life they still don’t
want to compromise with anything grossly contradictory to the philosophy of
life. They always hold their ism aloft. They discard the concept - “The
Prestige of the Left and the Privilege of the Right.” At times Raddur wants to
go in search of comfort but Avipsa declines saying,” Our poverty is our pride.
This poverty has turned our life spirited. The luxury of comfort is not meant
for us. Poverty distills the spirit of life to purity. Don’t think too much. If
I can accommodate the pain of poverty why don’t you. We are not alone in this
world struggling. Think of others too. There are still men who are down to
standard in comparison to us. If they can manage their poverty we can also do
that. Accounting of life of maximum of us hardly reconciles. What is the sense
of then to go for a tug of war in life? We don’t have any option left but to
struggle with dignified prestige. I have learnt many things from you in
ultimate optimism. If I ever see you in confusion it is aching to me.
Raddur
becomes silent listening to the irrefutable logic and arguments of Avipsa. He
can understand that their happiness, completely circumstance oriented will
remain ever mute. They will have to find out the pleasure of life amidst
chained struggle. He does not want to prolong his talking in return. He accepts
complete silence for reorientation of his thinking. He stretches his visionary
look through the small open window of the room in complete blankness.
Raddur
now lives completely alone in this desolate small room round the day until
Avipsa comes back from her working place in the evening. I have forgotten to
tell Raddur is now physically challenged. His left leg had to go for amputation
because of an accident. Since then he is confined in this room. He has to
depend on crutch for walking. Self-supported Raddur has always hated dependence
all along his life. So he cannot stand this crutch. It jeers at the independent
and self-supported soul of Raddur. So he does not want to touch this crutch, if
not compelled. Life is becoming hell to him. What else a physically challenged
man can do other than to live partially at the mercy of others especially when
question of psychological rapport arises? He waits eagerly when Avipsa will
come back in the evening as a gush of fresh air from outside. He sees the world
outside with the eyes of Avipsa. She is the only leftover oxygen in his life.
Avipsa
will come late today. There is a protest rally against the recurring episodes
of gang rape. She is a woman. Raddur cannot ignore her female identity. It is
not a candle light rally. It is not a silent rally. He does never have any
reliance in silent rally. Silence has definitely a language to protest, but
silent protest can never destabilize the foundation of lumpens. They are now in
full fury. They are desperately trying to ruin the peaceful environment of the
society. So this critical situation demands the aggressive protest rally in
slogans and shouting so that these lumpens can hide themselves in a big hole
where death is the only judgment. Mind of Raddur will also walk in the rally
step by step. He is eagerly waiting for Avipsa to return. He will hear the
language of the rally in verbatim.
Avipsa
hastily enters into the room. Sweating drops are shining as pearls on her
forehead. She knows well that Raddur will be eagerly waiting for her because he
is now very much vexed and annoyed with gross deterioration of moral values in
society. After taking a glass of water in one breathe she sits beside Raddur
and holds both of her hands in tremendous excitement and passion.
“You
will not believe it, Raddur. But it is fact. I have seen Agun (fire) in the
rally today. He was walking beside me. He is requesting me to move in firm
steps. He was whispering to my ears in softness. He was telling me that Agun is
very much in the rally. I am thrilled today.” Avipsa finishes her.
Raddur
contradicts saying “How can that be? I joined personally in his funeral rally. He
was brutally stabbed by the antisocial elements. Agun had a traditional
assignment with good forces. He did never compromise with anything injustice or
illegal. The enemies of civilization stabbed him to death in ultimate
brutality. I can never forget him as he was the heartbeat of our organization.
How can he come back again in the rally?”
Avipsa
sits sometimes speechless as if, she is lost somewhere else. After that she
starts talking slowly but in resoluteness,” It is your preaching Raddur that
none can douse the loll flame of good spirit. That is called the burning
funeral pyre. You are now confused, Raddur. Is there any crack in your faith
what was so long standing erect with no lenience? I can’t adjust with this
Raddur. My beloved Raddur holds a complete separate identity. I recognized
Raddur on road. He came down on the road under the attraction of road. You are
in undulation now. Think Raddur. Try to think, Raddur.”
Raddur
wants to say something in self-defense.
Exciting
Avipsa stops him saying. “None can extinguish the flame of fire out of immense sacrifices
on greater cause. I have seen the existence of so many Aguns in the rally. They
are very much rigid in protest and firm in resistance. They were the face of
the rally. They were very much present in the rally. I am not afraid in any way
out of any confusion. There is no death of our ism because it aims at for the
well being of the oppressed and deprived class. So long the oppression and
exploitation will exist in this world our ism will remain alive with its undistorted
relevancy. I am encountering a breach in your confidence. How does it happen?
Why does it happen? It is undoubtedly because of your stagnancy. You are now
captivated in the boundary of your own. Please come down at least once on the
road forgetting your physical inability. I will then get back my own Raddur who
is about to be missing in the struggle of life. The society will get back the
radiation of Raddur. Try to understand me. Please tear of the shackles of
pessimism” – Avipsa stops after talking long nonstop out of tremendous
excitement.
Raddur
is now weeping. He is weeping because of realization. Avipsa allows him time to
weep. She understands that Raddur is again coming back in the main stream of
life shaking of his confusion. “The struggle is the ultimate spirit of life to achieve
something great.” She has learnt from the experiences of life. She has come to
understand that Agun has touched Raddur. This Raddur is very much known to her.
All
on a sudden Raddur bursts into a wailing cry and said’” Avipsa give me back my
crutch. I have hated that so long. I will again stand up on my legs. That
crutch is no more the symbol of my inability. That is the crutch of my
commitment. I will again walk on the road. I will crash the evil spirit to dust
with the help of my crutch. It is now a new dimension in my life.”
Avipsa
is now satiated. She is able to reconstruct the mental setup of a dedicated and
upfront soldier in the field of long battle of life. She has got back again his
Raddur in incandescent flame of fire.
It
has been well understood in the run of debate between Raddur and Avipsa that
Raddur is well aware of the perfect address of the road. Every road runs to
reach the destination. The destination means the common objective for the well
being of all. Sometimes road leads us to misdirection. It happens because of
our confusion. As soon as we get back our senses road again makes us aware of
our true destination. A road never plays false with a committed and dedicated
soldier of life engaged in the struggle with no discontinuation. We may be
confused or unnerved while walking along an unknown or untraveled road, but it
is certain that even an untraveled road takes us to a known address. Avoiding
the attraction of back-pulling forces of life we will have to stride ahead
along the road, known or unknown no matter, to complete our missionary journey in
order to emblazon life. Today is the day to take oath. Let us all sing in
chorus – This earth is ours. The spokesman of the evil forces who want snatch
the earth from us will never be excused by showing any proportion of softness
at any length of reason. Their extinction is the source of our victory to life.
